Being an amalgamation of art, style and design, we couldn’t be more excited to share with our readers more information about the other solid wood that is being employed at Thin & Bold, that is Teak.
Teak is regarded as one of the most beautiful, high-quality woods manufactured today. The dense, straight grain pattern bestowed a sense of intricacy, coupled with a rich golden-amber colour, making teak wood an excellent choice to be made as a furniture. Each piece of teak holds a unique natural fingerprint, making each teak made furniture a unique piece. The pulchritude is complimented with the distinctive aromatic scent of teak.
Teak is widely renowned for its durability and its’ resistance to rotting. Teak wood is a hardwood obtained from broad leaved deciduous trees, with that it is exceptionally strong. With proper care, teak furniture is able to last for many years (in many cases over 100 years). With its high level of resinous oil, it gives the teak made furniture high resistance to moisture and water, and also able to act as a natural insect repellent, repelling termites. A survey was carried out in 2000, ranking teak as one of the best performing woods for resisting crack and warping under different humidity and temperature conditions.
Teak requires little maintenance and its’ exceptionally durable. With proper care and cleaning routine, expect your teak furniture to slowly take on a beautiful, golden honey tone. The natural durability and strength have already contributed a lot on its quality. Therefore, we may not need to repair everything but make sure cleaning is needed once every month.
